International DJ and producer STEVE AOKI has always been at the forefront of future music. As the founder of Dim Mak Records and a Grammy-nominated electronic musician, his projects have grasped the attention of influencers and music enthusiasts worldwide. Given that he’s an avid follower of forward-thinking and evolving technology, it’s only fitting that the new album from AOKI be titled NEON FUTURE.
“When I think of the dance world, I think of how it’s a colorful world. That, along with my fascination with futurism defined the concept of my new album, Neon Future,” says STEVE AOKI. “ I see the future in a more of a Utopian sense, built through technology, music and color. These concepts became the driving force for the creation of my first double album.”
Featuring collaborations with the likes of Fall Out Boy, Empire of the Sun, will.i.am, Flux Pavilion, Bonnie McKee and Machine Gun Kelly – PART ONE of Neon Future will be released August 12 2014 – with PART TWO destined for early 2015.
This has a jagged edge – with a backbeat bite that rumbles before it splendidly unfolds – like a silky kimono revealing the velveteen smoothess beneath.
It’s as exciting as a racing car and as giddy as a spinarooning flamenco dame.
Not altogether unique (stolen momentos abound) but as classy and regal as a crown princess.
