With a sound that is based on optimistic rhythms, soft voices and graceful synth melodies all united splendidly around a bunch of unforced electronic R&B flavours, 19-year-old Atlanta native, DEMO TAPED has released a dreamy new song titled “Pack of Gum.”
Having spoken openly about his personal struggles with depression and anxiety, Demo Taped, aka Adam Alexander, explained to Billboard how his new song also has that theme.
“It’s about not wanting to be forgotten by someone you love. It’s called Pack of Gum because when my anxiety was at its peak, it affected me physically...”
“Sometimes I would get sick and so I resorted to carrying around a pack of gum at all times….”
The inventive song follows the release of his acclaimed single, “Insecure” an R&B track with a gospel redux, “Insecure” was recorded in the church that his grandfather is the pastor of that was started by former slaves during the Civil Rights movement. His grandfather was close to Dr King and they marched together in Atlanta. Adam’s father plays bass on the song and features musicians that play in the church that Adam grew up around.
It’s expected that Demo Taped’s highly anticipated EP featuring “Pack of Gum” and “Insecure” will drop in early 2018 via 300 Entertainment
