Lil Wayne is a game-changing artist and an impervious celebrity.

Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr. began as his career as a near-novelty — a preteen delivering hardcore hip-hop ( In 1991, at the age of nine, Lil Wayne joined Cash Money Records as the youngest member of the label, and half of the duo, The B.G.’z, with fellow New Orleans-based rapper B.G…) Through years of maturation and reinventing the mixtape game, he developed into a million-selling rapper with a massive and thoroughly inventive body of work.

Lil Wayne I am Not a Human Being II cover

Lil Wayne’s debut rock album, Rebirth (2010), was certified gold despite a generally negative critical response. In March 2010, Lil Wayne began serving an 8-month prison sentence in New York after being convicted of criminal possession of a weapon stemming from an incident in July 2007. I Am Not a Human Being (2010) was released during his prison sentence.

On September 27, 2012, Lil Wayne passed Elvis Presley as the male with the most entries on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with 109 songs.

In October 2011, it was reported that Lil Wayne was working on sequels to I Am Not a Human Being and Rebirth.  Birdman later announced that I Am Not a Human Being II would be released before the summer of 2012. Following delays, the album will be available to UK fans on March 25 2103.

Three singles have already been released from the album: “My Homies Still”, “Love Me” and “No Worries”.

We listened to ‘My Homies Still ft. Big Sean’ and here’s what we figgad:

The song, produced by StreetRunner and Sarom, features additional vocals from fellow rapper Big Sean. (You may notice that the line “go stupid”, was also found in Big Sean’s “Dance (A$$)” )

Containing numerous purified, yet still strikingly chaotic profundities, the song is a can full of squeaks and bleeps and free association banter, these chatter along cheerfully in concert with the trashy 808-drumming.

A critical path can be viewed – even though it flows through pussy / dick balderdash and other fucking nonsense. Although some claim that some of the lyrics are beneath contempt – we feel that anyone daring to suggest his dick can be compared to Obama – is not only willing to push the boundaries of taste – but is also willing to say something about the status quo. And why not do this through humour, as well as through association?

Reports of hasty ‘Last Rites’ being given last week may well have been an over eager response to the artists recent shock illness. But the coverage has (reportedly) increased his exposure exponentially. There is life in the Lil kid yet. Thank God.
