The native Indonesian singer, songwriter, dancer and actress (but with Japanese, German and Chinese ancestry… now based in Los Angeles) is already MTV Indonesia’s favourite artist and is on the brink of conquering America.
The new upbeat techno-pop track from the 2007 Asian Idol “Nanana” is stuffed with optimistic and madly somersaulting emotions of the kind that develop during the honeymoon stage of any relationship.
It’s bumpy, flirting, crispy, dry-boned and delish. The voice is high-pitched and beatific. The text (not the texture) might be simplex and unanalyzable but so what? That is love.
